We have a free supply of wood chips on the garden and I am debating using them in the compost bin as 'browns' to balance the 'greens' that we get from the plot debris. The bottom right and detail photos show wood chips from the paths, a few cm below the surface, not that dissimilar to the debris on the floor of a woodland.

Our broad beans, sown last November, have been badly affected by rust.

While carrying out my almost daily search for asparagus beetles I found this green bug and tried out the macro setting on my camera.
